Apartment raid turns up drugs
City police raided a downtown apartment Wednesday, and arrested a man after finding drugs, cash and pellet guns.
Members of the police emergency response team assisted its drug unit in searching the home on George Street North.
Fentanyl, cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, hydromorphone and Canadian currency were found, along with three pellet guns, police say.
Joseph St. James, 56, of Peterborough was arrested and charged with possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (hydromorphone), possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine), possession of a Schedule I substance (fentanyl), possession of a schedule III substance (crystal meth), possessions of the proceeds of crime and possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order.
He was held in custody and was to appear in court Thursday. Raymond Charles Harvey was charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000, possession of break in instruments and failing to comply with a probation order.
He was bought back to Peterborough and was to appear in court Thursday.
