Ice­fest AAA tour­ney opens with 37 teams tak­ing part

Thirty-seven teams from across the province will par­tic­i­pate in the Peter­bor­ough Mi­nor Hockey Coun­cil’s 2019 Bos­ton Pizza Ice­fest AAA Tour­na­ment from Thurs­day through Sun­day at are­nas in Peter­bor­ough and Nor­wood.

“Bos­ton Pizza con­tin­ues to spon­sor this ex­cit­ing tour­na­ment,” states a PMHC press re­lease, “which is strongly sup­ported by sev­eral lo­cal busi­nesses and vol­un­teers who have a keen in­ter­est in the devel­op­ment of mi­nor hockey in Peter­bor­ough.

“The tour­na­ment will show­case some of the best tal­ent mi­nor hockey has to of­fer. These kids are all work­ing hard at their craft, and we will get to see some ex­cep­tional hockey in Peter­bor­ough.”

The tour­na­ment will draw more than 1,000 vis­i­tors to the city and county over the four days and a to­tal of 105 games will be played fea­tur­ing nine ma­jor pee­wee, 12 mi­nor ban­tam and 16 ma­jor ban­tam teams.

Com­pe­ti­tion starts Thurs­day at 1 p.m. with games at the Ev­in­rude Cen­tre, Kins­men Civic Cen­tre and the Aspho­del-Nor­wood Com­mu­nity Cen­tre.
