Intermediate public elementary flag rugby champions crowned at KPREAA tournament
Visiting schools swept the Kawartha Pine Ridge Elementary Athletic Association board-wide intermediate flag rugby championships at the Fleming Sports Complex on Wednesday.
The James Strath Colts girls’ bid for back-to-back KPREAA titles ended in a loss by three tries in the final to Clarington’s M.J. Hobbs Public School.
The Adam Scott Lions claimed the bronze medal by one try over Cobourg’s Terry Fox Public School.
Dale Road won the boys intermediate title defeating Courtice 11-8 in the final.
Dale Road unseated the defending champion Adam Scott 7-6 in semifinals.
The Lions rebounded to win the bronze medal game over Clarington.
Paul Hunter of Rugby Canada and Ryan Jones of Rugby Ontario were on hand to observe the games and offer pointers to players.
