Christian Farmers to hold info session

The East Central District of the Christian Farmers Federation of Ontario will hold an informatio­n evening Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Millbrook Lions’ Hall, 920 Larmer Line, corner of Larmer Line and County Road 10.

A member of Peterborou­gh Police Services will speak on the rules of the road and how they pertain to farm equipment. All are welcome to attend.

Scams and frauds

There will be a workshop, “Reduce your risk-protect yourself from Senior Fraud Scams” at Dunsford Community Centre, 26 Community Centre Rd., Nov. 28, 3:30-5 p.m. Tammy Brydon, Elder Abuse Coordinato­r from Community Care, will provide details on how to keep yourself safe from scams. Light refreshmen­ts will be available. Call 705-324-7323 ext. 654 to register.

Coming up in Omemee

The Remembranc­e Day parade and service will be held Sunday. The parade leaves the Legion at 10:30 a.m. proceeding to the Cenotaph for a short service and laying of the wreaths. The procession will return to the Legion for a service inside.

Jam sessions with Jim and the Jammers will be held at the Legion Saturday and on Nov. 23, beginning at 1 p.m. Feel free to drop in and enjoy the music and maybe even join in. Food is available.

The library holds Story Time every Saturday from 10:30-1 p.m. Come for the entire time or drop in as convenient.

The Omemee Seniors meet in the Legion Tuesdays for various activities. The 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th Tuesdays are euchre beginning at 1 pm. Cost is $2.50. A potluck is held the 4th Tuesday at 12:30 pm. Bring your favourite dish as well as a plate and cutlery to help with cleanup. Cost is $3.00. Annual fee is $10.00.

The Community Care of City of Kawartha Lakes offers many invaluable services to the residents of our area. The office number is 705-324-7323.

The Community Luncheon is held at Christ Church Anglican, Nov. 7 at noon. Formerly the Seniors’ Luncheon, the event is open to anyone and no pre-registrati­on is necessary. Attendance at these events has been steadily declining and if it doesn’t improve soon, they will be cancelled. Consider dropping in to the church for a delicious meal and great fellowship, no matter your age.

A seniors’ luncheon will be held at Bethany United Church, Nov. 21, noon. Register by calling ext. 654.

The Adult Day Program is held Mondays and Thursdays, 8:30-3:30 pm at Trinity United Church. This program allows caregivers some needed break time as well as allowing the clients to interact with other people.

Community Care is looking for drivers for the Good Food Box program. If you might be interested call Wendy at ext. 160.

The Omemee Food bank is held the third Monday of each month at Christ Church Anglican.
