Peterborough man pleads guilty to child luring over the internet
Steve Darrington wanted the 14-year-old girl he met online to bring him used underwear.
The Peterborough man wanted to take her virginity or help the young teen gain sexual experience.
“I am looking for a young virgin,” Darrington wrote — under the user name oralguy10 — in an online classified ad. On Monday, Darrington pleaded guilty to child luring for sexual interference.
According to the agreed statement of facts read by assistant Crown attorney Amanda Kok, the 58-year-old’s ad caught the eye of a member of the city police internet child exploitation unit.
Between mid-June and July 4, Darrington communicated with an undercover police officer posing as a 14-year-old girl.
Darrington instructed the alias how to do a number of sexual things, including how to masturbate.
He also requested a photo of her vagina.
After 14 days of communication, Darrington arranged to meet the alias on Armour Road, near Trent University, so he could drive her to Emily Provincial Park.
However, when he arrived at Armour Road, police were there to arrest him.
Darrington provided a full confession at the police station and has remained in custody since his arrest.
He returns to court Dec. 2 for sentencing.
