Christmas caper in Millbrook for new 4th Line production
New play takes place on the streets of the village, with the audience following right along
Millbrook’s 4th Line Theatre has a cast in place for its winter production of “The Fool of Cavan: A Christmas Caper.”
The play will take place Dec. 3, 4, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14, and sees the audience on foot, following the action through downtown Millbrook. The show starts at 7 p.m. at St. Thomas Anglican Church and covers about a kilometre, with a warning from 4th Line that this production isn’t suitable for people with mobility or health issues.
Described as a “Nancy Drewtype” story, the all-ages play is making its world première. It was written by Linday Finlan and directed by Kim Blackwell, 4th Line’s managing artistic director.
The play’s description: A church congregation is divided when props and costumes for a Christmas concert go missing. The Needlers, a band comprised of local young people, are accused of being the culprits, and take to the streets of Millbrook to solve the mystery and clear their names.
The play will star Erin Humphry as Joanie, Matt Gilbert as Willy, Megan Murphy as Euna, Jack Nicholsen as Dunnie and Laurel Paluck as Dolly. The cast also includes Rita Dottor, Sarah Flanigan, Mark Hiscox and Tristan Pierce, with music director Justin Hiscox leading a local choir in a post-show Christmas concert singalong at St. Thomas after some performances (Dec. 6, 7, 12, 13, 14).
Community volunteer cast members include Freyja Adams, Jalen Brink, Michael Cripps, Rylee Dixon, Georgia Dueck, Laci McDonald, Meah McGahon, Katrina Rowland, Joanne Rowland, Keeva Rowland, Peter Spasov, Deb Tobin, Ryan Tobin, Simone Watson and Marianne Woodhouse.
The production team includes stage manager Fiona Jones, production manager Tara Lember, production co-ordinator Jessica McDougall, production assistant Marisa Bonnetta, props builder and wardrobe manager Tristan Cruise and sound technician Steafan Hannigan.
Volunteer crew members include Abigayle Anderson and Mike Ryan.
