Flem­ing pays trib­ute to Mann Cup champs

Flem­ing Col­lege will hon­our the Peter­bor­ough Cen­tury 21 Lak­ers with a pub­lic cel­e­bra­tion on Thurs­day af­ter their third con­sec­u­tive Mann Cup victory.

Fans are in­vited to join the fes­tiv­i­ties in the main foyer of the Brealey Cam­pus col­lege at 3:30 p.m.

The cel­e­bra­tion will in­clude an In­dige­nous peo­ples pre­sen­ta­tion, an ad­dress on the his­tory of the Lak­ers by Flem­ing vice-pres­i­dent of aca­demic ex­pe­ri­ence Tom Phillips and greet­ings from Lak­ers of­fi­cials.

The Mann Cup and other Ma­jor Se­ries Lacrosse tro­phies will be on hand along with some Lak­ers play­ers and staff.

The Lak­ers are invit­ing fans and alumni to join the cel­e­bra­tion. They be­came just the fourth team, and first since the 1994-96 Six Na­tions Chiefs, to win three con­sec­u­tive Man Cups since it be­came a play­off se­ries for the na­tional se­nior A lacrosse cham­pi­onship in 1927.
