Man fac­ing gun, drug charges posts $80,000 bail

A man fac­ing sev­eral gun and drug-traffickin­g charges has been per­mit­ted bail.

Cameron Bagheri walked out of the Oshawa court­house on Nov. 26 af­ter post­ing $80,000 bail.

The 19-year-old was ar­rested Oct. 30 in con­nec­tion to a weapons and drugs in­ves­ti­ga­tion, which, po­lice say, net­ted co­caine, fen­tanyl, crys­tal meth and pre­scrip­tion pills.

The probe, which was led by Peter­bor­ough po­lice, re­sulted in 11 ar­rests af­ter 13 res­i­den­tial search war­rants and seven search war­rants on mo­tor ve­hi­cles. Four war­rants were ex­e­cuted in the City of Peter­bor­ough, four in Kawartha Lakes and one in Bridgenort­h. The oth­ers were car­ried out in Scar­bor­ough and the Belleville area.

Po­lice say the war­rants were a re­sult of a nine-week, co-or­di­nated joint-forces project that tar­geted in­di­vid­u­als al­legedly traffickin­g in drugs and weapons from Peter­bor­ough, the City of Kawartha Lakes, the Greater Toronto Area and De­seronto.

More than $35,000 in Cana­dian cur­rency was seized, along with six hand­guns and three ri­fles with am­mu­ni­tion, and a Taser, po­lice said.

Bagheri was charged with pos­ses­sion for the pur­pose of traffickin­g fen­tanyl, pos­ses­sion for the pur­pose of traffickin­g co­caine, pos­ses­sion for the pur­pose of traffickin­g oxy­codone, pro­ceeds of prop­erty ob­tained by crime over $5,000, and six firearm charges.
