‘Merry Corona Day’ celebrated at Fairhaven
Eerie Ashburnham Ghost Walks, Ballots, Booze and Bullets tour have been postponed to August
When life hands you lemons, make lemonade.
We’ve all heard this expression; sound advice for when the going gets tough. And that is just what some of the staff at Fairhaven did recently.
The staff on WV5 decided to celebrate Christmas in the summer and celebrated the occasion with a Merry Corona Day.
“The staff found Christmas hats to wear for themselves and the residents. They played Christmas songs, they put Christmas carols on the TV so the residents could sing along to them,” said Jennifer Baro, executive assistant at the home.
The home has been in a lockdown situation for weeks due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
No visitors are allowed in the home and regular activities with volunteers and music performances by outside groups are all cancelled, so this light- hearted reprieve was very much enjoyed by all.
“The residents were actively involved in the celebrations and absolutely loved it,” Baro said. “The staff made the best of (the) … situation to cheer up the residents.”
Staff have held other theme days. They recently dressed up in costumes for a Super Hero Day, and they have another theme day planned.
Show Your Pride Day will involve staff wearing Fairhaven logo clothing.
Daily life was made a little brighter for the residents of Fairhaven once again by their dedicated, caring front line staff.

TVA tours
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Trent Valley Archives Events Committee has had to make changes to some of their popular walks.
The Eerie Ashburnham Ghost Walks originally set for June will now take place Friday evenings Aug. 7, 14, 21, and 28. The Ballots, Booze and Bullets tour is still planned for Saturdays on Aug. 8, 15 and 22.
Organizers are expecting to limit tour groups to 10 so that attendees will have a chance to hear the leader but still stay a reasonable distance apart.
Tickets will be available when the TVA learns what size of groups will be permitted and when tours can begin.
TVA is also planning to offer tours for private events such as birthday parties and company gatherings.
If you’d like to book a tour or find out more contact Heather at TVA at 705745-4404 or by email at admin@trentvalleyarchives.com.
