COVID-19 cases in the area hold steady
Four cases in Kawartha Lakes, one in Northumberland have been declared resolved
The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Peterborough city and county, Curve Lake First Nation and Hiawatha First Nation held steady at 95 cases, Peterborough Public Health reported Monday.
There remain no active cases, with 93 cases resolved and two earlier deaths.
There haven’t been any new cases since June 20.
There were no institutional outbreaks as of Monday.
Peterborough has a rate of 64.2 cases per 100,000 people, less than a quarter of the provincial average of 263.9 cases per 100,000 people as of Monday.
There have now been 18,300 people tested for COVID-19 in the jurisdiction.
Drive-thru testing for people who don’t have symptoms but want to be tested is continuing on weekdays at the Kinsmen Civic Centre at Sherbrooke Street and Medical Drive in the west end of Peterborough. The clinic is open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Users must bring an Ontario Health Card.
The drive-thru clinic will continue operating until at least July 17.
People with symptoms need to get tested through the Peterborough Regional Health Centre assessment centre, which operates daily.
The hours at the PRHC assessment centre are now 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call 705-876-5086 to book an appointment.
Epilepsy office reopening July 21
The Epilepsy Peterborough and Area office is reopening to the public on July 21 after being closed for in-person visits for several months during the COVID-19 pandemic, executive director Thom Appleby announced Monday.
The hours will be limited to 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Under provincial health guidelines for the second stage reopening of the economy, the office will be limited to one visitor at a time, with masks and hand sanitizer provided.
The office is located at 203 Simcoe St. Unit 6 in the Charlotte Mews.
Support services will continue to be provided online and by phone at 705874-1897.
Four City of Kawartha Lakes cases resolved
Four more COVID-19 cases in the City of Kawartha Lakes and one case in Northumberland County have been resolved, the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit reported Monday afternoon.
The jurisdiction remains at 202 total confirmed cases, unchanged from Friday, with eight cases not resolved, including seven in the City of Kawartha Lakes.
The unresolved cases include a man in his 20s, a man in his 30s, a woman in her 50s, a woman in her 60s and two men in their 60s, according to Public Health Ontario. That’s a rate of 106.9 cases per 100,000 people, compared to the provincial average of 263.9 cases per 100,000 people as of Monday.
The City of Kawartha Lakes has 171 cases, with 145 now resolved and 19 earlier deaths among the confirmed cases. Seven City of Kawartha Lakes residents are also being monitored by the health unit as high risk for having had contact with a confirmed case.
Northumberland County has 21 cases and all 21 are now resolved as of Monday.
The health unit is also monitoring one Northumberland resident who is at high risk for having had contact with a confirmed case.
Haliburton County has 10 cases with nine of them resolved.
There were no institutional outbreaks as of Monday.
There are 35 inmates at the Warkworth Institution medium-security federal prison 60 kilometres east of Peterborough that have been tested for COVID-19 and all 35 have tested negative, Correctional Service of Canada reported Monday.
