Candlemaker opens up shop in the village

Allenwick Candles shop and studio now open on County Road 2, in the old school

- Pat Marchen KeeneNews@nexicom.net

When I was a kid I looked forward to the end of summer holidays.

Not because I was itching to get back to school, but because my birthday is in late August and it was the most important day of the year. Not so much anymore. But I do wish I could skip ahead to autumn this year, past this heat wave with no end in sight, past the peak of the virus (if we have all behaved) and gearing up to watch the election-to-remember from our ringside seats.

What sent me down that rabbit hole was a whiff of candles in the making. Jennifer Foshay was making batches of Fall Kitchen, Apple Stand and Cozy Flannel soy candles at her shop and studio, Allenwick Candles, when I popped in on Saturday.

A whiff through my mask of Fall Kitchen made me think ahead to October and Thanksgiving. What will our world be like then?

Allenwick Candles is on County Road 2, in the old school in Keene, across from Muddy’s Pit. It is open Friday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Online visit allenwickcandles.com.
