The Downtown Business Improvement Area (DBIA) board of management may be about to add six new members.

The DBIA has been operating with seven board members lately — due to attrition — when usually the board has 13 members, according to a letter to city council from the DBIA.

After seeking applicants, the DBIA is recommending six new members. The list will be presented to city councillors for approval at a virtual meeting on Monday.

The prospective appointees who would sit on the board until the DBIA’s annual general meeting in 2022 are:

ᐳ Brianna Salmon — executive director of GreenUP

ᐳ Judy Byrne, owner of Hi-Ho Silver boutique

ᐳ Laura Montague, property manager for Ashburnham Realty

ᐳ Scott Murison, owner of Wild Rock Outfitters

ᐳ Susan Tung, owner of Hanoi House restaurant

ᐳ Tracie Bertrand, director of tourism for Peterborough and the Kawarthas Economic Development

Architect Michael Gallant, a design principal at Lett Architects on Simcoe Street in downtown Peterborough, is the chair of the board.

Also on Monday night:

ᐳ Councillors will hear a presentation from PeterboroughKawartha MPP Dave Smith, who will offer an update on the provincial budget and discuss possible funding opportunities for the city.

ᐳ Councillors will hear a presentation from Otonabee Region Conservation Authority CAO Dan Marinigh about changes to the Conservations Authorities Act.

ᐳ Councillors will consider a proposal to receive progress updates from PKED president and CEO Rhonda Keenan through the liaison committee (which meets quarterly and oversees services shared between city and county) rather than receiving quarterly presentations at council meetings.

ᐳ Councillors will consider an invitation to join a new waste management committee that Peterborough County council proposes. It would be a new standalone committee, apart from the liaison one that oversees services shared between city and county (including waste management).
