Stay at home — it’s the right thing to do
We can weather this third wave of COVID-19 if we follow the rules
In March 2020, I don’t think anyone would have foretold a third wave of COVID-19 or multiple stay-at-home orders. Before the pandemic, stay-athome orders were limited to other countries in political unrest. And yet, here we are in the midst of another order for at least a month.
The good news is that the vaccines are getting into more Canadian arms and it seems as though the supply is improving.
We just have to be patient and compliant. Wear our masks, stay home unless absolutely necessary, use hand sanitizer and wash your hands regularly. COVID-19 will pass, although not as quickly as we originally suspected.
Progress is being made but further progress is incumbent on our ability to follow the rules.
Just as when you were a teenager and did not like the rules of your household or school, you still had to follow them, so too now with the government’s restrictions. If we all follow the restrictions, life will return to a semblance of normal much sooner than if we rebel.
Lions
Omemee Lions Club will hold an electronic waste and scrap metal collection day, May 29, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Omemee Curling Centre, 15 James St.
Bring your old electronics — computers, monitors, keyboards, stereos and the like along with returnable bottles, scrap metal, household batteries and pop can tabs to the event. Non-perishable food items can also be donated to the Omemee Foodbank.
