Police dog catches suspect in break-in

A city police dog helped catch a suspect after a security guard noticed a person inside a building under constructi­on on George Street early Wednesday morning. Police arrived at about 1 a.m. Police dog Isaac found a suspect on an upper floor and bit him on the shoulder; the suspect allegedly tried to hit the dog. The suspect was arrested and checked by paramedics at the scene. Ernest Rak, 51, was charged with breaking and entering to commit an indictable offence and failing to comply with a probation order. He will be in court May 20.
