Weekend sees 22 new COVID-19 cases
One workplace outbreak has been resolved
Peterborough and area had 10 new cases of COVID-19 Saturday and 12 Sunday.
This brings the area to 1,174 confirmed cases, with 404 of those involving variants of concern, Peterborough Public Health reported.
There are 92 cases active and 1,069 resolved. Thirteen people have died.
Peterborough Public Health reports cases in the city and county, Curve Lake First Nation and Hiawatha First Nation.
Four locations remain in “outbreak” status: Champlain College’s student residence E/F tower at Trent University, Empress Gardens retirement home, one unnamed congregate living facility and one unnamed workplace. An outbreak at another unnamed workplace was reported resolved Saturday.

Ridge District Health Unit tracks cases in the City of Kawartha Lakes, Haliburton and Northumberland County.
The health unit reported seven new cases Saturday — four in the City of Kawartha Lakes, three in Northumberland County and none in Haliburton.
There have been 1,571 cases since March 2020, with 330 of those being a variant.
The area has had 70 COVID-19 deaths, including 13 considered probably related to the coronavirus.
In Durham Region, health officials confirmed 457 new cases on the weekend for a total of 19,614 cases since March 2020. Of those, 2,668 are currently active. There have been 335 deaths.
Testing and vaccination
There have been 49,500 people tested at least once in the area. That’s one in three residents.
COVID-19 testing continues at Peterborough Regional Health Centre and at Northcrest Arena, both by appointment only.

This is specifically for people who meet certain criteria: Asymptomatic students, teachers and staff in schools and child-care settings; Residents or workers in long-term care homes; Visitors to a long-term care home; Residents or workers in homeless shelters.
Vaccination at clinics and some local pharmacies continues.
As of Thursday, 45,917 doses have been administered in the area, with 43,602 people receiving the first dose and 2,481 receiving the second.
Health officials have vaccinated more than 80 per cent of people over 70, and more than 50 per cent of people between 60 and 69.
