Peterborough Singers to present ‘Carmina Burana’ on YouTube

- Naomi Stock naomi.stock@gmail.com

The Peterborough Singers are pleased to present “Carmina Burana,” an online performance taking place Saturday at 7 p.m. The performance is a collaboration with Peterborough Dance Collective, led by Rachel Bemrose, who also choreographed the work. The original performance took place in 2012, and was captured for DVD, but never publicly shown.

“Carmina Burana” is a cantata that was composed in 1935 and 1936 by Carl Orff, a German composer. It is based on 24 poems from a medieval collection by the same name, most of which are written in Latin. Carmina Burana contains the very well-known piece “O Fortuna,” often used in films, commercials, and sporting events.

The performance is available free of charge, and will be presented on the Peterborough Singers YouTube channel. Visit peterboroughsingers.ca for a link.
