(Of Keene, Peterborough, Bracebridge, Kirkland Lake and Barrie; past-president and long-time member of the Barrie & District Real Estate Board, retired Royal LePage Real Estate Agent). It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Helen surrounded by her family at Grove Park Home (Pine) in Barrie on Saturday, July 17, 2021, in her 90th year. Dear and loving mom of Janis (Stephen) Bishop and the late Susan Anne Symes. Helen was the much beloved wife of the late Robert (Bob) Arthur Hopkins and common-law partner of the late Howard Livingston. Loving Nana of Jonathan Dewar (Lauren), Susan (Scott) Cunningham, Bradley Bishop and Mary Symes (Sherwan). Special Great Nana to Jack, Alexandra, Isla, Emily, Noah, Hailey, Julietta and Susanna.

Helen was pre-deceased by her sister Ann Francis and parents Jane Elizabeth McIntyre and Roy Nelson Francis. Helen loved to sew, quilt, knit and play bridge. She was the first to lend a helping hand, would never shy away from her opinion, she had a great sense of humour with a contagious laugh. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed. A special heartfelt thanks to the all the staff and volunteers of Grove Park Home for all their support, care, and compassion; they are an amazing team. Family and friends may call at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St, Barrie, on Thursday, July 22nd, 2021, from 6 - 8 p.m. and on Friday, July 23rd from 10 a.m. until the time we celebrate Helen's life in the Chapel at 11 a.m., followed by a small reception gathering in the Lounge. Masks and physical distancing are mandatory. In lieu of flowers, donations in Helen's memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, Canadian Cancer Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. In closing Helen would probably say as she often did with a big wave goodbye - "Well, it's been real!!"
