17U Tigers Elite lose four games over weekend

The Peterborou­gh 17U Tigers Elite lost four games on the weekend. On Saturday, the Tigers lost two games to the Brampton Royals at Riverside Park. Scoring details were not available. Both games were close until the last inning as the Royals managed to score six runs. On Sunday, The Tigers lost two games 5-2 to the Oakville A’s at White Oaks Park. In the first game, the Tigers had four hits versus some tough Oakville pitchers. Hits were by Brandon McMurray, Jacob Seifried, Adam Laird and Tyson Evenden. The runs were scored by McMurray and Laird. The losing pitcher was Matthew Thompson with relief help from Ben Keene. In the second game, Oakville pitchers limited the Tigers to six hits led by Ethan Drews with two, Jason Arnold, Seifried, Owen Duda and Hamish MacLeod. The two runs were scored by Drews and McMurray. MacLeod pitched a strong game allowing only five hits through four innings walking none and striking out four. Hayden Rosborough pitched relief, walking one and striking out one. Last week, the Tigers defeated the Ajax Spartans 9-5 in their home opener at Riverside Park. The Tigers were led by Arnold with two hits, two runs scored and two runs batted in plus a couple of nice defensive plays. Other hits went to MacLeod, Gavin Vickers, McMurray, Thompson, Gavin McGee, Laird and Rosborough. The winning pitcher was Rosborough who tossed three innings in relief of Charlie Rapos, striking out four batters. Thompson finished up pitching two shutout innings with two strikeouts.
