Fox Body Mustang revs up for Sunday festival
Fox Body Mustang Peterborough, a local group of Mustang sports car enthusiasts, are preparing for their Foxfest Mustang show this weekend.
The event will take place Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Peterborough Speedway, just west of the city on Mount Pleasant Road.
The admission cost for those who wish to enter a car into a show will be $10, but spectators are welcome to attend the event free of charge.
In addition to races and carrelated activities, Foxfest will feature games and prizes for younger attendees with a kids zone.
Attendees will be required to register in advance or at the event’s entrance by contacting the group directly. Protocols such as social distancing and mask-wearing will be in place in adherence to Ontario’s Stage 3 reopening guidelines.
Foxfest’s car activities will include a “loudest car” competition, and an opportunity for drivers to rev their engines in the “Fire ‘Em Up” event.
Dave Harman, the founder and main organizer of Foxfest, said that he was inspired to share his passion for Ford Mustangs with the larger community.
Harman lost his ability to walk after an collision years ago, but wanted to continue to contribute to the Peterborough Mustang-lover community.
Harman’s family, including his three young children, have been a pillar of support for him and this recurring car show initiative.
“For me, this event is all about the people,” he said. “We’ve worked really hard to put it together, and have tried to make things as accommodating as possible.”
Foxfest has raised around $8,500 with its events.
The proceeds left over after covering the event costs have traditionally been donated to a variety of local charities.
