Picture this: Spark Photo Festival puts month of photo fun in focus

- EXAMINER STAFF

The Spark Photo Festival opened Friday in Peterborough with events and displays in celebration of photography running through April at locations throughout Peterborough city and county and the City of Kawartha Lakes.

The COVID-19 pandemic halted the 2020 festival and the 2021 festival had to be pushed back until September, but this year the festival is returning to its traditional April month. Friday’s festival opening was held virtually but there are plenty of public displays and events over the course of the month.

The 2022 themed juried exhibit, Monochrome, will be on display at Chasing the Cheese on Charlotte Street in Peterborough.

The jury made selections of the Top 25 images from a record 257 entries and the selected photographers have been notified by email.

A virtual exhibit of the judges’ selections is online at sparkfestival.org. An events calendar and map is also posted there.

Organizers of the festival will also hold technical workshops, lectures, talks, films and other related photographic events and activities year-round as well as during the festival.
