Omemee’s Mill Pond bridge reopens

The Mill Pond bridge is now open to traffic after a long closure. There will be another closure later in the season when the final paving will be completed.

Ducktona

Omemee Lions Club is selling Ducktona tickets again this year. Tickets are $5 and available from Omemee Lions members, at Coronation Hall, Tuesdays and Thursdays or by sending your order and contact informatio­n to omemeelion­sclubgener­al@gmail.com

The draw will take place at Omemee Beach Park, July 1 at 6 p.m.

Only 750 tickets are available. First prize is $1,000, second, $350, third, a campfire package valued at $250 and $100 goes to the dead last duck.

Ontario Connects

Omemee will receive a major facelift through Ontario Connects program. Up to $3 million will be spent to reconstruc­t and resurface King Street (Highway 7) from the Pigeon River bridge to James Street.

The project will include replacemen­t of storm sewers, curbs, gutters and sidewalks as well as streetscap­e improvemen­ts.

Also announced was $123,200 funding from the Trillium Foundation for the legion’s new patio project.

The Omemee Blooms Club will hold its annual plant sale on May 18, from 9-11 a.m. or until sold out.

The sale will be at the Omemee Legion. Bring containers to carry your purchases.

Cruise Nights

Fowlers’ Corners and District Lions Club will once again hold Cruise Nights at the Barn, 124 Lindsay Rd. beginning May 19, from 5 p.m. to dusk. There is no admission fee, but free will donations will help with costs.

There will be live music June-August.

Grafting

The Manvers Historical Society will hold a Grafting Workshop, May 7 at 198 Jack Lane. You will learn how to graft a cultivar to an apple tree to take home.

Coronation Hall

The Service Centre in Coronation Hall is now open Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for regular business. You can purchase a burn permit, pay taxes, purchase a dog tag and regular city activities.

Soldiers of Change is a support group for men 18 years and older. The group meets virtually the second and fourth Thursday of the month from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Healing after Suicide Loss support group is held the first Wednesday of the month from 6:30-8 p.m., virtually and in-person. To register or for more informatio­n, call ext. 500.
