Back in the swim of things for synchro athletes
The Kawartha Trent Synchro Club’s competitive athletes were back in the pool during the Hilton Worldwide Invitational Competition in Markham from April 22 to 24. KTSC finished seventh in the 15-year-old team competition. Adeline McCully, Addyson Hoyle, Olivia Davis, Kyrsten White, Shylah Van Rooyen, Lillian Fenton and Lauren Chambers make up the team coached by Dani Smith and Sabrina Adam.
“The team had a great swim with a lot of energy. It was a tough event, and they were close to placing top six,” Adam said. “I am extremely proud with how this team overcame nerves and presented themselves at this competition.”
“We set out some pretty specific goals going into this competition, and they reach each one,” Smith said.
This past weekend, the Kawartha Trent Synchro Club’s regional league athletes travelled to Nepean to compete in the North East Regional League Meet.
The team of Martha WilburSmith, Cassie Berry, Addy Miller, Jane Hickey and Sequoia Soubliere competed in the tough 13-15 age category and brought home the silver medal.
“Because of COVID, this was the first time these athletes have been able to compete in over two years,” said the team’s coach Ally Sandiland.
“They were so excited to finally be able to show off their routine and had a great swim. I am so proud with how hard they have worked and how dedicated they were to their sport through these last few seasons.”
KTSC competitive athletes compete next in the Ontario championships in May.
