May is Brain Tumour Awareness Month

- ELIZABETH PEETERS

May is Brain Tumour Awareness month. Brain tumours can affect anyone at any time. They can affect vision, hearing, balance, processing speeds as well as many other bodily functions.

Brain tumours are the No. 1 cause of cancer-related deaths in patients under 21 years. There have been very few new treatments but research will change that. Recently a new treatment for diffuse pontine infuse glioma was tested in Toronto for this fatal tumour type.

Remember, grey matters!
