High school finals are set

The Kawartha high school boys hockey finals are set after semifinals wrapped up on Thursday.

The one-game AA final will pit the Holy Cross Hurricanes against the Crestwood Mustangs on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Kinsmen Civic Centre. The AAA final will feature the St. Peter’s Saints and Lindsay’s I.E. Weldon Wildcats also on Tuesday, at 1 p.m. at Ennismore’s Robert E. Young Recreation Complex.

The Hurricanes completed a twogame sweep of the Lindsay Collegiate Spartans with an 8-3 win on Thursday afternoon.

Toby Skopeliano­s led Holy Cross with two goals and an assist, while Ethan Lacey scored twice and Eddie Chambers had a goal and an assist. Also scoring were Lucas Desautel, Braxton Howard and Landon Brumwell. Adding assists were Will Ryan, Seth Clarke, Nate White and Cooper Mann. Cam Ryan got the win in goal.

Wyatt Renaud scored twice for LCVI and Aiden Graves once. Adam Flowers added an assist.

Crestwood beat the Fenelon Falls Falcons, 3-2, to take the series three points to one.

The Wildcats took their series against the Cobourg Collegiate Wolves three points to one after the clubs tied 1-1 on Thursday.

Braydon Davidson scored for CCI from Jordan Trakosis. Seth Goble scored for Weldon from Jackson Porter and Sam Thurston.

On Wednesday, the Saints beat the Thomas A. Stewart Griffins, 4-1, to take their points series 3-1.

Connor Russell led the Saints with two goals and an assist. Bryson Cumming and Michael Donahee also scored. Jack Davies had two assists and Ryland Wilson, Jacob Stinson, Jack Gauvreau, AJ Whitney and Ben Gusso one each. Thomas Darling scored for TASSS From Colby Wood and Brady Hunt.
