The Artisans Centre Peterborough is offering three afternoons of creative programs for children during March break.

On Tuesday, Jeffrey Macklin from Jackson Creek Press will lead a workshop on bookbinding. Children will learn about different techniques and materials, how to use the pamphlet stitch, and will create several small books for themselves.

Weaving is the focus of the workshop on Thursday. Instructor Julia Szabo will introduce a variety of techniques and children will be able to test cardboard looms, an Inkle loom and a table loom to make a woven piece to take home.

On Friday, children will learn about artistic hand lettering from

Douglas Schalin. This workshop will explore calligraphy principles and the mechanics of printing, and children will create their own decorative lettering piece.

These workshops are for children aged six years and up. Registration is $30 per workshop and includes all materials.
