Free tax returns
If you are a low-income individual or household, the Happy Wanderers will be returning to Trinity United Church on March 28, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to prepare tax returns. Bring your tax information and identification.
Splash pad meeting
There will be a public meeting regarding the proposed Omemee Beach Park Splash Pad on March 19, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the upper room of Emily Omemee Community Centre.
There will be a formal presentation at 6:30 p.m. followed by a time for questions.

Garden talk
Omemee Blooms Garden Club is celebrating its 85th anniversary at the Omemee Legion on March 18, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Omemee resident Paul Heydon, biologist, forestry technician and owner of Grow Wild will speak about “Why Garden with Native Plants.” He will talk about the benefits of using native plants, seed collecting germination, how to cultivate plants from grasses and trees and invasive species.
There will be a time to reminisce about the garden club’s history and accomplishments as well as anniversary cake.
Dancing at the legion
Royal Canadian Legion Branch 497 will host a number of bands for dances. Montana Sky, March 16, Eddy and the Stingrays, March 23, Stockdale Central, April 13 and the Gunslingers, April 27, all beginning at 7 p.m. The Mudmen will return May 18, 8 p.m. Tickets for all events are available at the Legion.
Free public skating
PD Realty Inc. is sponsoring free skates at the Emily- Omemee Community Centre, Wednesday and Thursday, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
Kate Lowes and Kevin Avery of Royal Lepage Kawartha Lakes Realty Inc. will sponsor a skate Friday from 2 to 3 p.m.

Accessibility awards
The City of Kawartha Lakes Accessibility Awareness Committee is seeking nominations for the 2024 Accessibility Awards.
Nominations can be made through kawarthalakes.ca/accessibility. Nominees can be individuals, businesses or organizations making a difference to residents with disabilities. Deadline for nominations is Friday.
