- METROLAND STAFF

The Peterborough Petes will find out the order of selection for the first four picks during the upcoming Ontario Hockey League draft on March 27.

The Petes are involved in the OHL Priority Selection Draft Lottery along with three other teams that didn’t make the playoffs — the Niagara IceDogs, Windsor Spitfires and Sarnia Sting. The Petes were eliminated from playoff contention on Saturday night after a 7-4 loss to the North Bay Battalion.

The draft lottery will determine the order of selection for the first four picks of the first round of the 2024 OHL Priority Selection that is taking place Friday, April 12 (Rounds 1-3), and Saturday, April 13 (Rounds 4-15). It will also determine the order for the 2024 OHL U-18 Priority Selection, held

Wednesday, April 17, at 7 p.m., along with the 2024 CHL Import Draft.

This year’s draft lottery is one that features the continuation of a weighted system that provides a 40 per cent opportunity for the lastplace team to garner the first overall selection. The three other participating teams will have adjusted proportionate odds, with the 19thplace team (30 per cent), 18th-place team (20 per cent) and 17th-place team (10 per cent) also vying for the top selection.

The results of the OHL Priority Selection Draft Lottery will be formally announced next Wednesday at 7 p.m., streaming live for free on OHL Live at watch.chl.ca/ohl_chl.
