Annual Tebey Golf Classic sold out

Funds raised from May 30 event will go toward YES Shelter for Youth and Families

The 8th annual Tebey Golf Classic, set to take place at Wildfire Golf and Country Club on May 30, has sold out its available tickets with all funds going toward YES Shelter for Youth and Families.

The day will feature a shotgun teeoff, meet and greet with Tebey alongside an acoustic performance, lunch and dinner, prizes and professional photos.

“We’ve been really lucky, people have jumped on the tickets early and we get a lot of returning teams every year, which is exactly what’s happened again this year,” said Tebey.

“So, I think by the time I was on the air over at Pure Country 105 a couple of days ago, we literally only had one or two teams left, and that sold out by the end of the interview.”

This year’s golf classic is presented for the first time by Bell Let’s Talk, along with Pure Country 105, explained Tebey.

“Every year we get more sponsors on board and the sponsors become bigger. I mean, Bell Let’s Talk is a massive organization, and a massive day across Canada, and they’re our title sponsor this year,” he said. “So, having those guys involved as well is really important.”

The primary goal of the golf classic is raising funds to support youth mental health programming in Peterborough, stated Tebey.

“The backbone has to do with mental health, which I’m a huge proponent of,” he said. “I’ve been very open over the years about my struggles with mental health and I’m glad that the funds go to an organization that puts that first.”

The golf classic has raised more and more money for YES Shelter each year, Tebey noted.

“It just keeps growing every year; the auction grows every year and the amount of people we have grows every year,” he said. “It’s just been so awesome.”

Those interested in being placed on a wait list in case a team becomes available can email vince@GPHSF.ca. Foursomes are $1,200, with a $240 tax receipt provided to each group.

“Teams do drop out every once in a while, because something happens you know that’s uncontrollable, but even if people can’t play this year, come and play with us next year,” he said. “It really is such a great day; all the sponsors are amazing, and the food is fantastic. So, keep your eyes and ears open for next year’s tournament and definitely try to be a part of it.”
