Registrati­on now open for spring/summer recreation programs

Registrati­on for spring and summer recreation programs and spring swimming lessons in Peterborou­gh is now open.

Early registrati­on opened for Peterborou­gh Sport & Wellness Centre members on Tuesday for programs that occur at the centre. Informatio­n on recreation programs, including spring swimming lessons, is available online at peterborou­gh.ca/recreation.

The fastest way to register is online, according to a City of Peterborou­gh press release. Residents can also register in person at the Peterborou­gh Sport & Wellness Centre reception desk, or over the phone by calling 705-742-0050. Some programs are in high demand and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Aquatic Program Informatio­n

Spring swimming lessons at the Peterborou­gh Sport & Wellness Centre will start the first week of April and run through June. Peterborou­gh Recreation offers specialty lessons (private, trio, and adaptive) along with beginner lessons for adults and teens. If guardians are unsure what level would best suit their child, they can schedule a free assessment by calling the Wellness

Centre at 705-742-0050 or by emailing apade@peterborou­gh.ca. Assessment­s are completed by the centre’s head instructor­s during swimming lessons, who will recommend the best level based on the child’s current ability.

Summer Day Camps

The City of Peterborou­gh offers a wide variety of themed summer day camps located at the Peterborou­gh Sport and Wellness Centre, Navy Memorial Club, Art Gallery and Museum.

As a HIGH FIVE registered organizati­on, city day camp programs offer the highest recognized levels of quality and safety.

Instructio­nal sport camps are offered in partnershi­p with local organizati­ons at various parks across the City.

Adult Leisure Programs

The McDonnel Street Community Centre now offers a range of amenities tailored to adult leisure with programmin­g for older adults including short mat bowling, shuffleboa­rd, darts, and more.
