From cookie sales to legion dances, here’s what is happening around town

There will be two craft shows at the Omemee Legion in the coming weeks. The Omemee Swans will hold their Spring Craft Show on April 13, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Admission is $1, with proceeds going to Scott Young Public School.

The Swans will have a lunch and a raffle table.

The second sale is on April 20, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. No further details available yet.

Cookie fundraiser

Congratula­tions to the staff of Countrysid­e Pharmacy, which recently sold sugar cookies to raise funds for the Omemee Food Bank. A cheque for $125 was presented to Cathie Morrissey at the food bank.

Omemee Curling Club

The Omemee Curling Centre has completed the curling season. Thanks to the receipt of an Ontario Trillium grant, work will be starting soon on the centre’s new roof.

Pickleball will return to the centre on May 1.

Blooms Garden Club

The Omemee Blooms Garden Club’s monthly meeting is on April 15 at the legion. Social time 6:30 p.m. with meeting beginning at 7 p.m.

Richard Dickenson will speak on The Effects of Climate Change on Native Forests.

Visitors are welcome to attend one meeting for free before purchasing a membership.

Legion dances

Royal Canadian Legion Branch 497 will host two dances, Stockdale Central on April 13 and the Gunslinger­s on Apr. 27, from 7 to 11 p.m., $20. The Mudmen will return on May 18, 8 p.m.

Tickets for all events are available at the legion or by e-transfer to rcl497@outlook.com.

Tickets include admission, a light meal, a door prize and a 50/50 draw.

The final jam session for this season is on May 4 beginning at 1 p.m. For further informatio­n call Jim at 705-799-6912.

Plans are underway for this year’s Omemee Walk for Dog Guides on May 26. The event will return for an in-person walk after the COVID-19 interrupti­on. You can sponsor a walker or walk yourself. Bring your dog or walk solo.
