Eligible residents encouraged to get COVID shot this spring
Most Ontarians can receive their dose at a participating local pharmacy
The Ontario Ministry of Health is recommending that eligible residents who are deemed as high-risk receive a dose of the updated XBB COVID-19 vaccine this spring, according to a media release from Peterborough Public Health.
The following residents, who have also not received a COVID-19 vaccine in the last six months, are recommended to receive a dose between April and June:
■ Adults 65 years of age or older.
■ Adult residents of long-term care homes or other senior congregate living settings (eg. retirement residences).
■ Those 55 years of age or older who identify as First Nations, Métis, or Inuit and their nonIndigenous household members who are 55 years of age or older.
■ Those six months of age or older who are moderately to severely immunocompromised (due to underlying condition or treatment).
Speak with your health-care provider if you are uncertain about your health status and eligibility.
Those who are not eligible for the vaccine this spring are asked to wait for further guidance about receiving another dose closer to fall.
Eligible residents can receive their spring dose at a participating pharmacy.
