Local racetrack operators never stop working toward the goal of giving fans the best show for their family entertainment dollar.

Shortly after introducing a new design for their website (peterboroughspeedway.com), the popular Central Ontario oval’s promotional team is happy to announce it will once again have cars on display at Lindsay Square.

From April 28 to May 5, fans will have the opportunity to pick up a copy of the track’s weekly event schedule and see the 2024 rides of third-generation KOD Disposal Late Model runner Jacob Mercer, as well as the unveiling of the No. 99 of Kingsway Auto Centre Junior Late Model rookie of the year hopeful 11-year-old former go-karter Brody Coates.

The No. 38 Mini Stock of Carol (Duckie) Dawson — who managed a sixth-place finish in last year’s points standings — will also be part of the show.

Peterborough Speedway owner and promoter J.P. Josiasse said having cars at the mall is a tradition that has been part of the speedway’s publicity itinerary for decades.

“We’re thankful to the team at Lindsay Square for welcoming the race teams and our fans for this pre-season event once again this year,” said Josiasse.

“Shows like this are an excellent marketing opportunity for racers, the track and the sport of local weekly auto racing.”

Everything is getting closer and fans are counting the days until the 2024 season opener, which is set for Saturday, May 18, and looking forward to getting another year of local racing underway.

The Pure Country 105 Season Opener offers free spectator grandstand admission and a complete program with five home track divisions, plus the Ontario Legend Car Series. Grandstand gates open at 3 p.m., with the first green flag at 5 p.m.

Before the season starts, take a self-guided tour of the freshly designed Peterborough Speedway website.

You’ll find the latest track news and schedule information, ticketing options, driver profiles and YouTube videos.
