Kawartha Conservation chair elected to provincial board
Pat Warren is taking her longstanding advocacy for the environment to the next level.
The Kawartha Conservation board chair was recently elected as the new vice-chair of Conservation Ontario.
“The board of directors of Conservation Ontario plays a crucial role in overseeing the strategic direction and governance of the organization, ensuring it remains a vital contributor to the sustainable management and protection of Ontario’s water resources and natural habitats,” reads a news release from Kawartha Conservation, announcing Warren’s new position.
Warren, who also serves as the Ward 2 councillor for the Kawartha Lakes, “has long been a passionate and dedicated voice for environmental initiatives. In her new role as vice-chair, she will work alongside five other Conservation Ontario board members to help guide the work of Conservation Ontario,” the release adds.
“This is an important time for both the conservation authorities and Conservation Ontario to have strong, committed voices advocating for our natural environments, and the important work conservation authorities do,” Warren stated in the release.
“I am thrilled at the opportunity to not only represent Kawartha Conservation, but to also support impactful environmental initiatives that bolster the well-being of people and communities across Ontario.”
As vice-chair, Warren “will focus on a number of priority areas from policy and governance to strategic planning, advocacy and representation and risk management.
Her leadership is expected to bring valuable, experience-based insights and perspectives to the role,” the release noted.
“Pat’s commitment to fostering sustainable communities and protecting natural resources aligns seamlessly with the goals of Conservation Ontario,” added Mark Majchrowski, Kawartha Conservation’s chief administrative officer.
“We’re proud of the work Pat is doing as the chair of our board of directors, and this new leadership role she has been elected to with Conservation Ontario. Pat’s experience and passionate commitment to environmental conservation aligns with our commitment to sustainable development and community well-being and I’m confident her positive influence will be felt on the Conservation Ontario Board of Directors.”
Warren, the release concludes, looks forward to working with the board on initiatives and policies that help to strengthen the environment, communities and make the environment sustainable.
