Fleming loggersports students go out on a limb for visitor open house
Future students had a chance to learn about the many programs Fleming College offers at its three campuses
Prospective students and their families headed to Fleming College’s Frost Campus in Lindsay on Saturday for a chance to meet professors, ask questions and learn more about the hundreds of programs the college has to offer at its three campuses.
The annual spring open house took place at the Sutherland, Frost and Haliburton campuses.
Aspiring health-care professionals, budding tradespeople and future community builders were able to check out Fleming’s workshops, labs and learning spaces.
Information about financial aid, residence, off-campus housing, and post-secondary life was also available.
Visitors to the Sutherland Campus in Peterborough checked out the wide array of services available to students, from accessibility to diversity and inclusion services. Visitors were able to take a self-guided tour of the Peterborough Sport and Wellness Centre and chat with current students about their experiences.
At the Frost Campus in Lindsay, arboriculture students put on a tree-climbing demonstration while the Fleming Phoenix loggersports team showcased its talents. Visitors also checked out the insect, wildlife, and fish displays.
Guests also entered a draw with a chance to blow up dozens of watermelons during an explosive demonstration of Fleming’s blasting techniques program.
The Haliburton School of Art and Design encouraged all visitors to take part in live demonstrations and interact with Fleming’s students and instructors during the open house.
Future students checked out the student art exhibit in the Great Hall and walked along the Sculpture Forest Trail.
