RCMP Musical Ride tour is coming to Cobourg in June

Cobourg will welcome the world famous Royal Canadian Mounted Police Musical Ride on June 22.

“A symbol of tradition, honour and pride, the Musical Ride is a Canadian icon with history dating back to 1876,” town staff wrote in a release announcing the visit.

“The troop of up to 26 riders, who are all police officers, and their horses perform intricate formations and drills set to music.”

The family friendly event performs in up to 50 communitie­s across Canada each year between May and October.

It travels to each province once every four years to ensure as many Canadians as possible can experience this spectacle.

The Concert Band of Cobourg and Cobourg Legion Pipes and Drums will be performing at the preshow at Donegan Park at 25 D’Arcy St.

Doors open at 2 p.m. The event’s total duration is approximat­ely 60 minutes. Attendees are invited to visit with the horses and officers afterwards. The show will run rain or shine.

General admission tickets for the RCMP Musical Ride are $10 plus HST and a service fee, and can be purchased at the Cobourg Box Office, located in Victoria Hall (55 King St. West), or online at cobourgbox­office.ca. Children two years of age and younger are free.

Parking will be limited at Donegan Park. Attendees can park for free at Cobourg Collegiate Institute at 335 King St. E and walk to the park. For other parking options, visit Cobourg.ca/parking.

This is an outdoor event with general admission and bleachers for seating. There will be no preassigne­d/reserved seating. The Town of Cobourg is committed to ensuring this event can be enjoyed by all, the town noted.
