Treaty vote postponed
A vote among Lheidli T’enneh members on whether to accept a proposed treaty has been postponed.
The move was made, according to a posting on the band website, to ensure members have “adequate time to learn about the treaty and to make a good informed decision.”
The vote had originally been set to go at venues in Prince George, Vancouver and Prince Rupert from Oct. 15-23 on essentially the same proposal band members had rejected in 2007.
New dates will be determined once the band’s ratification committee has received information from the parties involved “that will allow it to conduct a vote in accordance with the committee’s obligations,” the posting further stated.
