Representatives from universities and colleges throughout B.C. will be available for a free public information night on Tuesday.

The event, now in it’s fourth year, is hosted by PSI-BC and is ready to welcome 14 universities and colleges this year.

The evening is aimed for parents and local secondary students to help them better understand the B.C. post-secondary system and access information directly from any institution as they plan which college or university they would like to attend.

“B.C. post secondary options are vast and there are so many options,” said Dennis Stark,

UNBC/PSI-BC Chair and interim manager for student recruitment at UNBC.

“Students have questions. This is a big decision and bringing all to one location is very valuable.”

With post-secondary representatives visiting high schools in Prince George for many years, the school hour schedule limited parents from being able to participate in the discussion.

The event will include a presentation including the many options available to students followed by a fair for attendees to interact directly with representatives from the institutions.

“Here in the north, we have a vast geographic region. But we want students to know that there are many options across the board. We want them to know about all of the opportunities available before they make an informed decision,” Stark said.

The event will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Bently Centre, UNBC.

Attending institutions are: BCIT, Canadian Forces-RMC, College of New Caledonia, Justice Institute of B.C., Northern Lights College, NVIT, Okanagan College, SFU, TRU, TWU, UBC, UNBC UVIC and Vancouver Island University.

PSI-BC is a collaborative, student-centred group of post-secondary institutions acting as partners in supporting students and counsellors in B.C. high schools.

The group supports students though their search to find available institutions and programs that best for their personal and career objectives.
