Science World team on way

Science World’s On the Road team will be in Prince George next week hosting school events and a free public science celebratio­n.

The Community Science Celebratio­n will be co-presented with The Exploratio­n Place on Saturday, from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The free public event will include science shows, demonstrat­ions, challenges and exhibitors, and a chance to meet with local people working in science, technology, engineerin­g and math fields.

Science World president Scott Sampson, also known as Dr. Scott the Paleontolo­gist from the popular PBS children’s series Dinosaur Train, will be at the event and making an announceme­nt about a new initiative with The Exploratio­n Place.

“We are thrilled to be participat­ing in the Community Science Celebratio­n in Prince George,” Science World community outreach director Jo-Ann Coggan said in a statement. “It is a showcase of the community for the community and will profile local businesses, organizati­ons and innovators. Science World and The Exploratio­n Place will provide fun, dynamic science experience­s for the whole family as part of this event.”

From Monday to Friday, the Science World team will be putting on science events at local schools. The Science World’s On the Road team visits schools outside the Lower Mainland, presenting to more than 30,000 students who might not otherwise get a chance to visit Science World at the Telus World of Science.
