A man who was convicted of dealing drugs in Prince George has been identified as the victim of a fatal shooting in Chilliwack.

Cody Isaacson, 28, was found Wednesday shortly after RCMP in the Fraser Valley community received calls of shots fired in the 9200-block of Broadway Street about 6 a.m.

“When officers arrived, they found a man with gunshot wounds who was then taken to hospital. Despite the best efforts of medical staff, the male victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead,” Cpl. Frank Jang, of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, said in a news release.

He said IHIT is working closely with its partners from the Chilliwack RCMP, the Integrated Forensic Identification Section and the B.C. Coroner’s Service to gather evidence.

“It is still early in the investigation but we believe Mr. Isaacson’s murder was targeted,” Jang said. “Mr. Isaacson was known to police.”

In 2014, Isaacson was sentenced to 442 days in jail and issued a 10-year firearms ban, after he was arrested twice in a span of three weeks at the same 2400-block Jasper Street home.

On both occasions, police found enough crack cocaine, heroin and methamphetamine to suggest it was used to supply drugs to lowerlevel drug houses around the city.

A sawed-off .22 calibre rifle was also found in the home during the first raid by the Prince George RCMP’s crime reduction team.

Isaacson had been released from custody two days after the first arrest, but had remained in custody ever since he was apprehended on the second incident.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact IHIT at 1-877-551-4448 or at ihitinfo@ rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
