Fabulous Lipitones extended

The Fabulous Lipitones now have some sweet overtones.

The play by Miracle Theatre has been such a success at the box office that the show is being held over for a longer run. It is not scheduled to close, now, until March 25, a full week more than originally advertised.

“The matinees were sold out before we started, and we had hardly any tickets left for the rest of the run with a week still to go, so we made the decision to hold over,” said Anne Laughlin, Miracle Theatre’s general manager and producer. “People are having such a great time. We were sure another week would be embraced by the community.”

“We are really pleased for the United Way,” said Ted Price, Miracle Theatre’s artistic manager and director. It is to that charity that all proceeds are destined. Each year, when Miracle Theatre stages its annual professional play, local causes are the beneficiaries of the box office.

“When you read that letter in your newspaper (March 12th edition by Tiffany May) it really made us understand all the more about why we are doing what we are doing,” said Laughlin. “You can complain or you can do something. All we do is make theatre, but we can do something in our way to help.”

The play stars Matt Lacas, Gordon Roberts, Stephen Aberle, and David Talbot in the comical tale of a barbershop quartet who lost one of their singers to a fatal high note. When they called in a replacement singer, they got a shock of the ethnic variety, then another of the musical variety.

The Fabulous Lipitones is on at Artspace (upstairs at Books & Company) with evening shows at 8 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays. Sundays also have a 2 p.m. matinee. For tickets, while they last, go to the Books & Company desk or call 250-563-6637.
