Suspicious incident near skate park reported

Police are on the lookout for an oldermodel grey minivan in relation to a suspicious incident Monday afternoon at the skateboard park on Massey Drive.

RCMP received a report that an older man driving the van stopped in the turn lane at the intersecti­on of Massey Drive and Carney Street to pick up a young teenage girl.

Witnesses believed she may have been in distress.

The incident occurred shortly after 1 p.m. and the van was last seen heading north on Carney Street towards 15th Avenue.

The man is described as about 50 years old, five-foot-10, with grey hair and scruffy facial hair.

He was wearing a grey shirt with ripped jeans.

The girl is described as 12-14 years old, five-foot-two, wearing a checkered tank top, and having short brown hair with blue streaks in it.

The relationsh­ip between the two is unknown at this time.

“Investigat­ors would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this incident and to the persons involved to ensure the safety of all parties,” RCMP said.
