Pub night fundraiser helps Science Al­liance camp

Burg­ers, brew, brain­power. Thurs­day night is the start of a new tra­di­tion for Ex­plo­ration Place, as they get cook­ing for kids. Their first an­nual pub night fundraiser hap­pens 5-7 p.m. at the Cana­dian Brew­house, in sup­port of Science Al­liance Summer Day Camps. Buy a ticket, help build the brains of the next gen­er­a­tion.

Each ticket in­cludes a burger and side (fries or salad), and a drink. This fam­ily-friendly fundraiser will also fea­ture a si­lent auc­tion and a 50/50 draw.

Adult tick­ets are $25 each, chil­dren’s tick­ets are $20 each, avail­able at the Ex­plo­ration Place front desk.

Only 100 to­tal spaces avail­able. More than a dozen si­lent auc­tion items have al­ready been do­nated, and more adding in be­fore the big siz­zling event.

“The Ex­plo­ration Place is a non­profit or­ga­ni­za­tion and reg­is­tered Cana­dian char­ity whose mis­sion is to fos­ter life­long learn­ing in the ar­eas of science, tech­nol­ogy, her­itage, and cul­ture,” said or­ga­niz­ers from the all-lo­cal mu­seum and science cen­tres.

“Over the last two decades, Science Al­liance camps have got­ten kids aged 5-9 ex­cited about science and learn­ing through ‘hands-on, minds-on’ ex­per­i­ments, ac­tiv­i­ties, games, pre­sen­ta­tions, guest speak­ers, field trips, our Ex­plor­ers Ur­ban Gar­den and more.”

The funds raised by the Science Al­liance Camps Burg­ers & Brew Night will go into their bur­sary pro­gram, al­low­ing chil­dren from fam­i­lies of all so­cio-eco­nomic re­al­i­ties to en­joy a week of camp in their unique mu­seum/science cen­tre en­vi­ron­ment.
