Kristina Collins’ red-hot shooting week was impossible to ignore.

The Simon Fraser Clan’s junior point guard, who shot a combined 10-of-15 from beyond the threepoint arc in wins over Alaska-Anchorage and Alaska-fairbanks, was named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference’s women’s basketball Player of the Week on Monday.

A 2009 member of The Province’s Head of the Class, the Poco-Riverside grad also dished out 11 assis-ts in the two wins as SFU (5-2 GNAC, 10-5 overall) moved into fourth place in the conference standings. The Clan is 5-0 overall at home this season, the GNAC’S only basketball team — men’s or women’s — to boast a perfect home court mark.

Teammate Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe, who combined for 38 points and 26 rebounds in the two wins, recorded her 11th and 12th double-doubles of the season, a total that would lead all of NCAA Div. 2 women’s basketball if not for SFU’S current provisional membership status.

SFU plays at Northwest Nazarene (3-4) on Thursday and at Central Washington (2-5) on Saturday.

In GNAC men’s news, Simon Fraser (1-6, 6-9) saw a timely scoring force emerge from its injury challenged roster.

Jordan Sergent shot a combined 17-for-23 as the Clan lost Thursday at Anchorage but picked up its first GNAC win of the season on Saturday.

Sergent combined to score 43 points in the two games, and his 10-of-11 effort from the field Saturday was the fourth most field goals in a single GNAC game with just one miss. Teammate Justin Brown scored 45 points in the two games.

The Clan men return home Thursday to face Northwest Nazarene (2-5), then entertain Central Washington (2-5) on Saturday in a pair of 7 p.m. contests at the West Gym.
