American retailer J. Crew is adding three stores in Canada, including one on Robson Street, and bringing a men’s apparel line to Canada.

TORONTO — J.crew has announced the locations of its new Canadian store openings this year — Vancouver, Edmonton and Toronto.

The three new stores will carry the women’s collection and mark the debut of the men’s apparel line to Canada.

The U.S. retailer, long a favourite of Canadian catalogue shoppers, opened its first and only Canadian location in August but does not carry men’s apparel there.

The new locations are slated for West Edmonton Mall, Robson Street in Vancouver and Toronto’s Eaton Centre — its second outlet in Cabbage Town — said Jenna Lyons, president of J. Crew.

The first Toronto opening last August weathered some controversy after the retailer’s new Canadian website began featuring the higher price tags of the Canadian store. After a consumer outcry, the company reverted to allowing Canadian consumers to view the U.S. site and shop in American currency.

J. Crew aims to open as many as 25 stores across the country in the coming years.
