No, no! Not in T/O

Outdoor posters for the Canadian hockey comedy Goon were taken down Wednesday in Toronto, by order of that city’s council.

Thirty-eight posters were deemed inappropriate after they had been up for about two weeks. They featuring the movie’s writer-star Jay Baruchel sticking his tongue between two upraised fingers.

“Another classic example of the cultural divide between Quebec and Ontario, I guess. ” Montrealer Baruchel said in a release from the movie’s distributor Alliance Films.

Baruchel ( How To Train Your Dragon, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Tropic Thunder) was in the city with castmates and director Michael Dowse for several days promoting the release of the rude hockey comedy.

“I question whether this has to do with Jay’s tongue or his ability to burn Maple Leafs’ jerseys, neither of which are offensive in any way,” said director Dowse, who also lives in Montreal.
