It’s awards night

The red carpet will be rolled out tonight at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre for the 19th Annual National Aboriginal Achievemen­t Awards.

Hosted by former hockey star Theoren Fleury and Burnaby native and Arctic Air star Carmen Moore, the black-tie event celebrates 15 First Nation, Inuit and Metis Canadians for their work in the arts, their communitie­s, government and the private sector.

The evening’s celebratio­n will open with a classical piece led by conductor and composer Dustin Peters.

Also on the bill are award-winning singer/songwriter­s Chantal Kreviazuk and Derek Miller.

The awards will be broadcast on Global TV and Aboriginal Peoples Television Network on Friday, April 13.
