Nissan Leafs earn clean sweep in Rio
After the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro there will be an awful lot of Nissan Leafs to sweep from the streets of the Brazilian streets.
Nissan has won the bid to provide 4,500 vehicles of different models, required by Rio 2016 at Games time to transport athletes and officials.
The car fleet will prioritize the use of clean energy (ethanol or electricity) supporting the efforts to achieve sustainability targets across the Games. Furthermore, some of the fleet will be wheelchair-accessible and vehicle models will include top sedans, medium size sedans and SUVS.
Nissan has a comprehensive plan to support Rio 2016 goals that will include a program to support young aspiring athletes.
Ford opens doors
Ford has unveiled a unique door system that brings what it claims is unrivalled ease-of-access to the all-new B-MAX.
Ford’s Easy Access Door System integrates the central body pillars into the doors of its multi-activity vehicle to create 1.5-metre wide unobstructed openings on either side of the car and reduce everyday motoring stress. Most rear door openings provide around half that space.
In developing the concept, a team spent several days observing drivers in their daily routine to understand exactly what customers really wanted in a compact car.
Engineers then took on the challenge of producing a safe and practical vehicle. They moved the high-strength body-structure from the central body pillars and integrated it directly into the doors for crash protection.
What a launch!
Bentley Motors celebrated the arrival of its new 4.0 litre V8 Continental GT coupe in Germany with a sensational flying debut above downtown Munich.
Anyone struggling through the rush hour would have seen the bright red Bentley taking a dramatic short cut, suspended beneath a helicopter, to beat the traffic jams and arrive at a specially designed podium at the summit of a highrise complex. The fashionable Skylounge — positioned in a glazed bridge between two skyscrapers — was the venue for an exclusive launch party for 300 VIP guests.
Klaus Becker, general manager of Bentley Munich, commented: “A dramatic car got the debut we felt it deserved.” To see the Bentley go airborne go to http://youtu.be/cbeufre22d4
