Three suspected drug smugglers jailed
Three Mexican men are in U.S. jail after getting caught at the border allegedly trying to smuggle drugs into B.C.
Thirty kilograms of methamphetamines and three kilograms of cocaine were seized April 27 by U.S. border agents patrolling a known smuggling trail.
According to court documents filed Monday in U.S. District Court in Seattle, the agents spotted two men carrying two large camouflage backpacks in a clearcut area east of Blaine.
When the agents identified themselves, the two men dropped the bags and fled. Agents found a third man, dressed in camouflage, lying on the ground.
The two men were arrested the next day after a taxi driver told police about taking “two muddy individuals” from Lynden to Bellingham International Airport.
Charged with drug possession with intent to distribute are Eivar Garcia-reyes, Gerardo Arrendon-do-rosales and Sigifredo Loya-Perez. all men are mexican nationals and were in the U.S. illegally.
