Stay, Rupert, stay!
NEW YORK — News Corp.’s board of directors rallied behind Rupert murdoch on wednesday, a day after a British parliamentary panel deemed him unfit to run a major international business. The board backed Murdoch continuing as chairman and CEO. News Corp. received damning criticism from the select committee on culture, media and sport for its handling of a phone-hacking scandal at a now-defunct U.K. tabloid. The panel laid much of the blame on Murdoch, son James and other execs. The scandal also led to the cancellation of News Corp.’s largest-ever merger transaction with British satellite operator BSKYB last year.
