First Nation members aim to halt condos
Musqueam First Nation members took to Vancouver streets on Thursday to protest the development of condos on what the band says is an ancient village and burial site. Work has already begun on what the Musqueam believe is a 3,000-yearold midden on the 1300-block of SouthWest Marine Drive. The plan is to build a five-storey residential and retail complex on the site. The land is privately owned and not protected by the provincial government. In January, work was stopped on part of the development after human remains were found. Work has continued on other parts of the site.
